License Requirements
Any individual who performs the services of a security officer must have a Class “D” or Class “G” license.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for either a Class “D” or Class “G” license, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Be a citizen or legal resident alien of the United States or have been granted authority to work in this country by the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
- If you were born in the United States, submit a copy of your birth certificate, U.S. passport, Social Security card, driver license, state-issued ID card, or voter registration card.
- If you are a naturalized citizen, submit a copy of your U.S. passport or the official document issued by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services indicating that you are a naturalized citizen.
- If you are not a U.S. citizen, submit a copy of your Permanent Legal Resident Alien card.
Course Enrollment Eligibility
Only upon meeting all the requirements listed above is a student eligible to enroll in the Denson Protective Services, Corp. Security School. Students are required to pay the course fees and all associated fees for registration in full before the start of their first class. Students are encouraged to check to see if they meet any of the State-approved exemptions or disqualifications before enrolling in the course(s) as cancellation fees may still apply regardless of exemption/disqualification status. Denson Protective Services, Corp is not responsible for Students’ failure to review exemptions before enrolling in any course.
State Fees & Fee Schedule
Upon successful completion of the course, the student must pay all applicable state fees to the Division of Licensing of the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. These fees are controlled solely by the State and are not payable to Denson Protective Services, Corp. Enrollment Policies
Students of Denson Protective Services, Corp. are required to provide Denson with proof of identification for verification purposes only. All Students are required to pay the training fees in advance. Once training has begun and the Student has attended at least four hours of classroom training, all applicable course fees are non-refundable. Should the Student choose to reschedule for a later date, the Student may do within 45 days without penalty. After the 45-day period, Student forfeits all applicable course fees. Student may cancel within 48 hours of purchase for a refund less a processing fee of 2.5% or $10, whichever is greater. Should the Student choose to cancel courses before any training has commenced but after the 48-hour period of purchase, a refund may be processed and is subject to cancellation fees of either the 25% of the total cost of the course or $50, whichever is greater.
Student Policies
Student must agree to attend the full curriculum of their selected course, agrees to uphold the course policies, and to take an exam at the completion of the training. A passing score of 75% is required to receive your certificate of completion. The topics covered in your course are dependent upon the training you’ve selected when you enrolled. A copy of your course objectives will be provided to you at your request and will cover all topics as required by state law. Student also agrees to follow all instructor’s guidance including but not limited to safety procedures, class directives, and directives relating to classroom procedures and/or other Students.
Training/Experience for Security Guard Licenses
Training/Experience Class D
For Class “D” licensing, you must submit proof of successful completion of a minimum of 40 hours of professional training provided by a security officer school or training facility licensed by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

Training/Experience Class G
An applicant for a Class “G” license must submit proof of having completed an initial course of instruction that includes 28 hours of classroom and range training pertaining to the use of firearms in connection with duties regulated under Chapter 493, Florida Statutes (F.S.).

Legal Aspects of Use of Firearms — 12 hours
This section of the course covers applicable portions of chapters 493, 775, 776 and 790, F.S., as well as civil and criminal liability issues in connection with the use of firearms.
Operational Firearms Safety and Firearms Mechanical Training — 8 to 11 hours
This portion of the curriculum is intended to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the mechanical operations of a firearm and how to handle firearms safely. A written examination of 100 questions will be administered covering the portions of the curriculum dealing with legal use and operational/mechanical training.
Firearms Qualification — 8 hours*
This segment of the training course includes practical exercises in the handling of firearms — stance, grip, sighting, etc. — as well as topics pertaining to range safety and range commands. The instructor will require students to fire 144 rounds as part of the firearms qualification for initial licensure (48 rounds of practice fire plus two cycles of 48 rounds for initial qualification). No more than eight hours of the 28 hours of training shall consist of range training.
